XXXI ANNUAL SEMINAR ON AUTOMATICS, INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS AND INSTRUMENTATION (SAAEI 24)
SAAEI 2024 was held in Granada (Spain) on 3-5 July 2024. The annual congress is aimed at researchers and companies to describe work in the fields of automation, electronics and instrumentation. SECH CONFERENCE MEDITERRANEAN CROPS IN THE FACE OF CLIMATE CHANGE
The Spanish Society of Horticultural Sciences (SECH) holds the II Conference of Citriculture, XII Conference of the Fruit Growing Group and VII National Conference of the Olive Growing Group. The place chosen is the Martiánez Lake in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife, Spain) during 25-27th June 2024. DARkWIN group attends in order to present the project and its implication in facing climate change. The aim is to promote discussion and cooperation between researchers, technicians, farmers, students, exporters, and other agents in the sector for an exchange of experiences that contribute to increasing the profitability and sustainability of these sectors.

IX UMU-UPCT-CMN DOCTORAL CONFERENCES 2024
The International Doctoral School of the University of Murcia (EIDUM), together with the International Doctoral School of the UPCT (EINDOC) and the Mare Nostrum Campus (CMN), organize the IX International Doctoral Conference 2024 on 10-12th June 2024. This conference is aimed at PhD students from UM and UPCT, as well as other Spanish or foreign universities. Our PhD Students presented their work within the framework of DARkWIN Project.

DARkWIN WORKSHOP
Workshop “Pollinator-assisted Plant Natural Selection and Breeding Under Climate Change Pressure” took place in Murcia (Spain) on 7th June 2024. The aim was to explain the Project and its future prospects to potential stakeholders. National and international breeding companies attended the evento which started with presentations by the Project researchers followed by a technical visit to the phenotyping platform.

3rd DARkWIN ANNUAL MEETING: WORKSHOP
The third official meeting of the DARkWIN Project took place at the CEBAS-CSIC facilities in Murcia, Spain, on 6th June. In this meeting the progress of WPs was discussed, starting with the project overview and detailing the progress of WP1, WP2 and WP3, as well as the implementation of WP5 with a special focus on the organisation of the next day's Workshop.

JOINT MEETING OF INSAS & SUSTAIN
The Salt-affected soils: threats and potentials Joint Meeting of the International Network os Salt-Affected Soils (INSAS) and the COST Action on Sustainable Use of Salt-affected Lands (SUSTAIN) was held in Valencia (Spain) on 27-31 May 2024. Prof. Dr. Francisco Pérez Alfocea presented results on salt stress and phosphorus deficiency, two abiotic factors aggravated by climate change.

ROOTS FOR THE FUTURE WORKSHOP
First scientific meeting of the thematic network, organised by the Institute of Bioengineering (IB-UMH) took place in Elche (Spain) on 21-22 March 2024. At the meeting, the research carried out by the network’s laboratories was presented and the active participation of research trainees was encouraged. Plant Hormones Group (CEBAS-CSIC) participated with three communications, including the intervention of Prof. Dr. Francisco Pérez Alfocea.

HORTICULTURAL SCIENCE CONFERENCE 2024
The Horticultural Science Conference was held from 20 to 22 March in Cartagena, Spain. Its aim is to present the most innovative scientific contributions in the field of Horticultural Sciences and the experiences and developments of companies in the sector. Members of the DARkWIN Project shared the preliminary results analysing pollination choices together with source to sink rellationships under environmental pressure. Any other end could be better, as a PhD student Maialen Ormazabal was awarded for her Acta Horticulturae communication.

2nd JOINT WORKSHOP CEBAS-CBBC 2023
On October 25, the second joint workshop between CEBAS and the Borj Cedria Biotechnology Center (CBBC, Tunisia) on "Current perspectives of Mediterranean agriculture in a context of climate change" was held within the framework of the Halofarm project (PRIMA Program) and the ICOOP project (CSIC). The workshop focused on the effects of salinity on higher plants in the context of climate change, with particular emphasis on the Mediterranean basin, a sensitive area to the negative effects of climate change. Professor Francisco Pérez Alfocea (CEBAS-CSIC) talked about temperature, salinity, and nutrient deficiencies effects on the reduction of crop productivity, presenting the new radical and innovative vision of the DARkWIN project.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY WEEK
The Science and Technology Week 23 took place in Murcia (Spain) from October 20 to 22, 2023. During this event a workshop was held in which attendees could experience how the DARkWIN project works in their own skin. The activity included a real representation of the bumblebee monitoring system on a small scale in an elevated urban orchard. In this way, the public could closely observe the bumblebees in action and the operation of the hive from the inside thanks to a hive with a transparent wall.

1st DARkWIN ANNUAL MEETING: KICK-OFF
The kick-off meeting of the DARkWIN Project took place at CEBAS-CSIC facilities, in Murcia (Spain) on the 1st of march 2023. This first meeting was the starting point of this project with a foreseen duration of 4 years. The Coordinator Prof. Francisco Pérez Alfocea remarked the scientific and technical objectives and KPIs that will be used for project results monitoring, and that the project is following a market oriented strategy. The workpackage (WP) leaders presented the general roadmap of the project through the brief description of different WPs, stating about the different tasks, current status, critical risks and deliverables, as well as the steps and objectives to be achieved during the first year of the project.
